Lawton girls basketball senior makes Division-I college commitment

LAWTON, MI – One of Southwest Michigan’s top girls basketball players took a big step toward her college hoops future this week

as Lawton senior McKenna Macon committed to Western Michigan.

The 5-foot-8 point guard announced her decision Sunday via Twitter and thanked her father and Lawton head coach Jeremy Macon

her family, her teammates and her trainer, Mertzie Klein, for helping her fulfill her college hoops dreams.

I am very happy to announce I will be fulfilling my dreams and committing to Western Michigan University.”  Macon wrote.

Macon is set to become the third Kalamazoo-area prep athlete to join the Broncos women’s basketball team,

Macon’s upcoming high school hoops season will be her first since her sophomore year,

after she sat out the 2021-22 campaign following a transfer from Mattawan to Lawton, where her father was hired as the girls varsity coach in April 2021.
